Scope
and Objectives
The 5th Samos Summit on ICT-enabled
Governance offers an unprecedented opportunity to see, interact with and
influence cutting-edge Information and Communication Technologies research
projects and initiatives. Attended by
high caliber experts from research, administrations and enterprises worldwide,
the Samos 2014 Summit focuses on the newest developments of ICT applications in
the areas of digital governance. Specific
focus in this year’s summit will be given to the following topics:
- Open and Linked Data applications, technological frameworks and standardization approaches
- Global Systems Science approaches for evidence-based decision making and policy support in administration, business and society
- Big data management technologies in policy support, with an emphasis in simulation, mining and visualization approaches
- Interoperable infrastructures and cloud technologies for open and collaborative governance scenarios
Organisation
The 5th Samos Summit is
held in Doryssa Bay 5* Hotel, in Pythagorion, Samos on 30th June – 2nd
July 2014. In conjunction with the
Summit, the 2nd International Summer School on Open and
Collaborative Governance, is held on 30th June – 5th July
2014 in Doryssa Hotel, offering the possibility to younger members of the
research community to enjoy tutorials, project workshops and panels on how ICT
transforms governance and policy making.
The Samos 2014 Summit is
co-organised by the University of Aegean, the Share-PSI 2.0 project on Open
Data, the NOMAD and the EU-Community projects on Social Media – based policy
making (co-funded by the European Commission), with the support of local
authorities and organizations.
Submission
of Applications for Participation
Interested organizations, research
project and initiatives, individual researchers or practitioners are encouraged
to submit applications for presentations, project demonstrations, project
workshops and/or summer school tutorials on the topics of the summit.
Applications must be sent as one-page abstract including title, author, type of
participation targeted (presentation, demonstration, workshop, tutorial or other) and elaborating on the main points, in MS-Word or PDF file, using the Springer/LNCS format.

Important Dates:
- Submission of presentation applications deadline: 1st April 2014
- Notification of acceptance: 15th April 2014
